commemorative poster

Arguably America's greatest color woodblock printer, Gustave Baumann lived in Nashville, Indiana from 1910-1916. Guest Curator Michael Wright of Wright Fine Art composed a show chronicling the transition between Baumann's early efforts to his rapid mastery of the color wood block art form. The use of the angular typeface Legato echoes the wood block printing that was Baumann's forte. The interior image and the overall poster were both designed to be standard sizes, allowing it to be more easily framed either with or without the poster's white border.
